Blending Away Your Life Savings

Within makeup there are a variety of different techniques that can be used, some for example are the blending of your eye shadows into a seamless array of colors. Another would be baking under your eyes and your contour, are you confused yet? There's so many different aspects to makeup so many tips and tricks to learn and you'd be surprised how much a person without experience is willing to pay someone else just to "look good".

Throughout my time experimenting in the makeup industry I have become one of the lucky few to have picked up on some of the trades that people develop to create what they believe is the best version of themselves. I have been offered anywhere from $25-$100 just to do a makeup look for someone just because I was "better at it" then the client believed they where. In a small town that may seem like a lot of money to be paying someone for you appearance while in larger cities and a more experienced person the price is much steeper. Some people are virtually exclusive and you cannot book them because they're almost a celebrity in the beauty community and the cost would be incredibly expensive. As I continue to talk about how much the cost for talent ask yourself if you  would you consider paying it for such an exterior thing?

Not only is the cost of talented makeup artists so high, so is the price of makeup. I know that if my makeup collection was added up the value would be thousands of dollars. That may seem crazy to some but there is a variety of different products out there that we believe make us more beautiful and were willing to pay. There is a distinction between high end makeup and drug store makeup as well, the quality and the price is a major difference. A high end eye shadow palette can be anywhere upwards from $45-$150 just for eye shadows. Yes, JUST EYE SHADOWS. In comparison you can go into your local Walmart or drug store and get a quad of eye shadows for $5.

Why don't people just choose the money saving route rather then blending away their savings on those eye shadows for $150 that you're going to wash off at the end of the night. I believe the answer to this is society and internet influences.  That's it, people used to go their local Walmart and pick out what they wanted and go, even I was once this person. Now because of internet influences, myself included, we're extremely concerned with getting what people tell us is the best thing no matter the cost.

    1. I think in the drugstore mostly Maybelline is really stepping up their game. They're offering a lot of good products for a good price, Wet & Wild also has a lot of hidden gems for a VERY small price tag. Even some brands have cheap prices like Colourpop and Morphe you order them online if that's something you're able to do their shadows are great. Although I can't tell you about what is so amazing in higher end makeup because almost all of it's quality and performance is worth the money where as drugstore can be very hit or miss.

  2. Do you think that it's a positive thing for young girls in today's society that so much scrutiny and emphasis is placed on looks and outward appearance?

    1. Even though I am a person who enjoys the art of makeup and everything it can do for you I do not agree with the idea of young girls facing these kinds of pressures, it is so unfortunate that they maybe under the impression that they need to look beautiful.. They're young girls they don''t need to focus on those types of pressures yet, simply being a kid is what it should be all about.
